A brand built around healing
We helped turn Bryna Blum’s personal writings and emerging vision into a coherent brand, published book, digital platform, and growing community for widows and widowers.

The story behind the book
Several years after her husband’s death, Bryna began putting her feelings and experiences on paper. Those private writings eventually became Mourning Pages: A Widow’s Journal of Healing.
As the book developed, Bryna saw the possibility of supporting widows and widowers through reflection, connection, and community. What began as a personal journal became the starting point for something much larger.

Designing the book cover
Bryna prefers clean, modern simplicity and a largely black-and-white palette. The cover needed to reflect the personal nature of her writing while feeling calm, thoughtful, and hopeful. It also needed to avoid clinical or familiar grief imagery. Shown here is the original image created for the book cover.

Creating the visual identity
The book cover established the visual direction for the wider brand. We developed a simple wordmark, accessible typography, and a restrained palette of black, white, grey, and coral.
Together, these elements created a consistent identity across the website, private community, and social content.

Structuring the vision
The brand architecture clarified how Bryna’s related ideas and platforms could work together while retaining their distinct roles.

Maryle is a creative visionary. She gets to know you and then proceeds to build a website that reflects exactly what you’re trying to convey. I’ve known her in several capacities for years; and as I was writing my book “Mourning Pages, A Widow’s Journal…” I immediately thought of her to build something exactly like I would if I had her talent. She’s the best!
